Tuesday

I'm pleased to announce the release of my 2nd CD "GVR". I hope you've enjoyed listening to the tunes at Reverbnation. You can now purchase the songs by downloading individual songs, the album (15 songs) or sending me an Email gvr@cfl.rr.com to request one of a limited number of CD's, signed with any message you might like, to give as a gift.

The songs are arrangements of everything from Stevie Ray Vaughn to Hoagy Carmichael. The CD has been divided into some heavy hitting jazz/rock./blues style and the old standards style for the last part of the CD. There is something for everyone. Personally, the mix on "Wayfaring Stranger" is about as good as I had hoped for so I hope you will enjoy that.

Email me and let me know what you think. You can hear all of the pieces by visiting the "Store" tab on my site and/or going to CDbaby.com http://cdbaby.com/cd/georgevrichards2 The songs are available on iTunes as well. You can do a search there for George V Richards or GVR and see the classic/ballad releases as well.

Thanks for your support. If you have any questions, let me know.-George http://www.reverbnation.com/georgevrichards

Welcome One and All

I'm including this blog so I can ramble on about my latest project, the expected release of my 2nd CD of Jazz and Blues...and a few surprises mixed in as well. Stay up on the latest developments and listen to a few of the selections from the player below te next post.. It may take a few moments to load, but if you like the style, the wait is worth it.

Who

OK. So what is a guy with a background in Classical Vocal music doing here? Well, My first CD was indeed classical, but the new project, my 2nd CD, will be Jazz and Blues and a little mix of both.

I have a Bachelors and Master's Degree in Music, but that got me about as far as "Will that be paper or plastic sir". That's because I don't seem to get along well with authority figures. Hence workplace environments...you know what I mean. I like to jam with really fine musicians and in my corner of the world, there are more than a few. Incidentally, if anyone has seen my sax player Kenny Cohen lately, drop me an Email.

I hope you enjoy some of these pieces. They are not yet in post production, but at least you get the flavor. I did a concert last November where I sang classical, then turned the tables the second half and did the Jazz material I had been working on. Great crowd. Great fun.

Thanks to Manfred Dreilich, my Producer, Derek Slam, the badest guitar, bass man on the planet (University of Florida grad), Kenny Cohen on sax and not a few others who have made my work possible. Thanks especially to Ed and Cheryl Scott, who are the financial and "we believe in you" for me and these projects.

Jump

Jumped 133 spots up in one day on the Jazz side. Not bad.
